The battle of Stalingrad was the turning burden of the GermanSoviet war. Hitler had expected the German blitzkrieg to disgrace the Soviet articulations military completely, but Hitler underestimated the Russian cold weather, and the scrap turned out to be one of the bloodiest of World fight II. Stalingrad was non needed by either side to dish out them in the war. However, Hitler wanted to reward control of everything in Russia, and Stalin did not want to lose the city that had his appoint in it.

The Battle of Stalingrad was one of the bloodiest battles in World War II.

Hitler grew impatient of not taking over Great Britain and decided (against his generals opinions) to move gain into Russia and take Stalingrad. Hitler could of passed by Stalingrad and marched straight to Moscow, but he was too ambitious. He wanted Russia completely conquered, so he change integrity his army in three groups and sent the biggest group to take Stalingrad. Hitler did have one advantage in Stalingrad, and it was so he could cut off part of Russias oil supply. The Soviet Union was in amply retreat towards Moscow ,but Stalin ordered his army to go and defend Stalingrad. The only reason Stalin sent them guts was for his pride.
